Hello, World!

Just a little intro to myself and this blog.

Hello, World!

Wow, what a an unexpected title, amirite?

Hi, my name is Daniel, and this is my blog, I guess! I think I'm going to use it to talk about what I'm doing and how I'm doing it. It's probably a bit cliché that a programmer's writing a technical blog, but I hope that my experience with both programming and English will help at least a few people!

Anyway, expect to see a lot of TypeScript and JavaScript content around here! I love these languages, and I use them most of the time in my own projects. I almost always use Node in the back-end with an Express and Mongo setup. And while React and Vue are becoming increasingly popular for front-end projects, I am fond of Angular and it's my go-to for large projects. For small ones, I usually just write vanilla TypeScript and bundle it with Webpack.

Besides TS/JS, I write code in Java, Python, Dart, and C#. I particularly like Dart because it's similar to TS and is the host language of Flutter, an incredible cross-platform, declarative front-end framework.

This summer, I'm interning at Gallup as a Software Developer. Surprisingly, they don't just do polls! 🤯

I just graduated from Creighton Preparatory School in Omaha, and I will be attending The Raikes School at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln this fall.

The Kauffman Residential Center. It's a dorm just for Raikes!

So, what else do I do besides program?

  1. I act in plays, as seen below in "Hello, Dolly!" I have also been in "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "The Birds" by Aristophanes, "RAGS," "The Sound of Music," and more.
  2. I sing! I was Tenor 1 section leader Junior and Senior years in my high school Chamber Choir. I like singing big, harmony-rich choral music; not so much pop music or solo music (though art songs are cool).
  3. 日本語を勉強します (That means "I study Japanese" in Japanese)! A lot of people think I want to learn Japanese because I'm a weeb. Well, to tell you the truth, I'm a weeb because I want to learn Japanese. I wanted to try something new a while ago, and so I decided studying Japanese would be fun (turns out it is). A few weeks later, a friend showed me Steins;Gate and I was hooked. I liked the show for its actual quality content (you should totally watch it). But afterwards, I realized that watching anime would be a great way to improve my Japanese skills! So I watched another show my friend recommended to me: ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure). And, well, now I guess you could call me a weeb.

So, yeah, I guess that's me in a nutshell. Go check out my projects on GitHub; I'll be writing about a few of them soon! I have no social media because I am too conscientious about my online presence, so I guess don't follow me on Twitter.

Oh! Also, I love cats. This is Jasper, one of my three:
